Noir Bar Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 November 2026

Noir Bar collects no personal data and shares nothing with anyone. Its only online step is asking the Microsoft Store about your licence.

What Noir Bar reads on your computer

To work as a taskbar and Start menu, Noir Bar reads these things on your own computer:

The keyboard

Unless you turn the option off, Noir Bar watches for the Windows key and Ctrl+Esc so that they can open its menu. Windows passes every key press to this check, and Noir Bar ignores all other keys. It does not save, record or send anything you type.

Text you type into the menu's search box is used only to find apps while the menu is open. It is not saved.

What Noir Bar saves

It saves your bar and menu pins, your recent apps, your settings, a start picture if you choose one, copies of shortcuts you add, its icon images, the state of your Windows taskbar so it can put it back, and a log of any errors. All of this stays in the app's own folder on your computer. Uninstalling Noir Bar removes it.

Your trial and purchase

Noir Bar has a free trial and is then a paid app. It asks Windows and the Microsoft Store whether your trial is running or the app has been bought, and what it costs. If you press Buy, the Microsoft Store shows its own window and takes the payment. Noir Bar never sees your payment details, and Microsoft's own privacy statement covers that step.

What Noir Bar does not do

Children

Noir Bar collects no information from anyone, including children.
